Campus Residence Halls
Living on campus provides a safe and conveniently located place to develop social relationships with other CSUB students.
Residence halls are brand new, furnished and just short walk from your classes. The dormitory includes wifi, utilities, community study and game rooms, and a friendly staff of student resident assistants to support you with life in the dormitory.
All rooms and bathrooms are shared with at least one other student. In most cases, you will be placed with another international student from another country. Kitchens are not available in the residence halls, so all students are required to purchase a meal plan for dining in the university cafeteria.

Students wishing to participate in the Homestay Program should complete the Student Homestay Application at this site: www.homestaynetwork.com

Please note that Homestay Network is not a part of ALI or CSUB, We will not be able to provide assistance with any homestay concerns.
Many students enjoy living in a private apartment off-campus. The university is surrounded by many apartments that are within walking distance of the campus and shopping. Additionally, Bakersfield has a public transportation system, and many of the roads have bicycle lanes for easy bicycling in the city.
ALI does not make apartment arrangements or recommendations for students. A local one-bedroom unfurnished apartments costs range from $500 to $1000 per month depending on the location, size and quality. First-time renters may be required to pay deposits for start-up of utility services.
